August is the last month of winter with many areas of Australia having a few frosts whilst other climate zones in Australia are enjoying balmy days and nights.
Winter and spring flowering bulbs will be appearing and gardeners are preparing their plots and pots for planting new season vegetables and flowers. This is the best month to invigorate your existing GreenSmart potted vegetables with a boost of organic fertilisers or rock minerals. Rock minerals are slow release natural forms of nutrients that permaculture and organic gardeners add to their soils.
Keep a watch for snails and slugs at this time of year when all the seedlings are plump and delicious. Use copper tape around your GreenSmart pots to keep these pests at bay
